Hyderabad: Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao extended financial assistance to a tribal handball player and also to a student who got admission in IIT-Guwahati.
Madavi Kareena, a native of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, had participated in various State level handball tournaments and bagged medals. Madavi, whose parents are daily wage agriculture workers, got an invitation to participate in the Asian Youth Women Handball Championship to be held from March 18 in Kazakhstan. Due to her financial condition, Madavi could not arrange funds to bear the travel, visa and other expenses.

Rama Rao, who learnt about her plight through Twitter, provided the required financial support to her. Madavi will now take part in the handball tournament. Madavi belongs to Scheduled Tribe (ST) community and studied in TS Residential Tribal Welfare Institution at Asifabad.
He also helped Sankuru Manideep, a student from Amberpet in Hyderabad. Manideep had secured 98.6 per cent in the Intermediate and had got 799th rank in the JEE-Advanced. He got admission for B.Tech (ECE) in IIT-Guwahati.
Manideep’s father is a daily wage worker, and his mother is a housewife. Manideep paid Rs 35,000 for seat allotment and admission fee but is yet to pay for accommodation, mess, and library. He was also facing trouble attending online classes via mobile phone and had requested a laptop. Rama Rao provided the required financial assistance for his education and also a laptop.
Both the youngsters expressed happiness over the support they got from the Minister. They promised to put in the required hard work to succeed in their respective careers and also to look after their parents apart from giving back to the society.
