Maharashtra Omicron cases: Thackeray govt to issue COVID-19 restrictions/guidelines for Christmas, New Year

Mumbai: In view of rising Omicron cases in the state, the Maharashtra government will issue fresh COVID-19 restrictions/guidelines for Christmas and New Year festivities, Chief Minister’s Office informed. The decision to impose the restrictions was taken after CM Uddhav Thackeray chaired a meeting of the Covid task force on Thursday.

The decision to impose restrictions was taken after CM Thackeray held talks with the members of the state COVID-19 task force. The CMO in a statement said that the officials discussed the ways to avoid crowding during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, weddings and parties at hotels and restaurants.

Twenty-two more cases of the new COVID variant was registered in Maharashtra on December 23, taking the Omicron tally in the state to 88.
