Mancherial: Boozers always wish prices of liquor could be reduced. But their wish is never fulfilled as rates continue to go up. However, in order to cash in the demand for liquor among alcoholics, certain outlets of wine slashed prices of alcohol in view of New Year 2022. The move cheered the guzzlers.
Vaishnavi Wines, a liquor outlet in Kaghaznagar town announced an offer by cutting rates by around 10 per cent on December 31 and January 1 on account of New Year. As per the offer, many brands could be bought at discounted prices. For instance, a bottle of Scotch whisky manufactured by 100 Pipers is now priced at Rs 1,700 as against Rs 1,900 sold in the past.
Similarly, rates of beer were also reduced. Beers brewed by popular brands can be purchased at 140 in place of Rs 150 per bottle. “Prices of alcohol would always rise, resulting in financial burden on the tipplers. Selling the liquor at discounted rates is a rarity. Every boozer would utilize the opportunity,” a tippler said.

Thirumala Bar, situated in Mancherial town, declared the offer and reportedly registered brisk sales on Friday. Boozers made a beeline to this bar and guzzled the wine. Many other bars followed the suit.
On the other hand, police teams were deployed at important junctions in Mancherial district headquarters to carry out special drives to prevent drunk and driving menace with the help of breath analysers from afternoon onwards. The drives apparently shocked the boozers who were forced to postpone their celebrations to evening.
