New Delhi: A day after the hologram of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate was switched off, the Ministry of Culture on Friday clarified that it was turned off due to “extreme weather conditions” and has been lit up again.

“There is no question of politics over switching off the statue as it was done due to extreme weather conditions as per international standard practice and was switched on again at the midnight yesterday,” ANI quoted sources in the ministry as saying.

This came after TMC leaders protested at India Gate over the absence of Netaji’s hologram statue.

Trinamool MP Saugata Roy had on Thursday claimed in Lok Sabha that the hologram of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the India Gate premises has “vanished”.

“The hologram statue was not there. Gone with the wind. This government had showcased Netaji’s statue for just one day and now the hologram has vanished,” said Roy

Meanwhile, Chandra K Bose, Netaji’s grandnephew has said that the Opposition and the government should jointly celebrate Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary but unnecessary political controversy is being raised.

“If a foundation stone would have been laid at the place of the hologram, I think the controversy would have rested,” he added.

The hologram statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 23 to mark Netaji’s 125th birth anniversary.

The Prime Minister also said that the grand statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is being installed in digital form near India Gate and soon this hologram statue will be replaced by a big granite statue
