Among the winners was AAP leader Labh Singh Ugoke who won against Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi by a whopping 37,550 votes from the Bhadaur seat.”I contested for the first time; family supported me. It’s a new type of politics in which a labourer’s son can become MLA. I’ll work to improve condition of hospitals and improve quality of education,” Ugoke who used to work in a mobile repairing shop asserted. According to reports quoting his father – who used to work as a labourer – the family intends to continue living the same as earlier. “We have always worked hard to earn money. Irrespective of my son’s position, I will continue to perform my duty in the school,” his mother Baldev Kaur who works as a sweeper in a government school told news agency ANI. Ugoke had joined the AAP in 2013, rising quickly through the ranks. While he had sought a party ticket from the Bhadaur seat in 2017, the party had decided otherwise at the time.
