Rozgar Guarantee Rally: Arvind Kejriwal to launch AAP’s UP poll campaign from Lucknow today

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will launch his party’s poll campaign from Lucknow on Sunday.

During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, Kejriwal will address a rally at Lucknow’s Smriti Upvan Maidan. 

For this rally, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have traveled all over Uttar Pradesh and taken a letter of support from the people on promises like 300 units of free electricity, 10 lakh jobs, and unemployment allowance, according to the party.

Earlier on Thursday, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia had announced that the AAP will provide 300 units of free electricity to every household if voted to power in Uttar Pradesh.

The party has also announced creating 10 lakh jobs every year and providing an allowance of Rs 5,000 per month to the unemployed in the state.

UP polls to be held in Feb-Mar

The elections will be held to elect 403 members of the Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh in the month of February to March 2022. The main contest will be between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP).

The debutant AAP will contest all 403 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly election.

In the last assembly polls in the state, the saffron party bagged 312 seats, while SP won 47 seats, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) 19 and Congress could manage to win only seven seats. The rest of the seats were bagged by other candidates.

After the elections, the BJP formed the government in the state with Yogi Adityanath becoming the Chief Minister for the first time. The term of the current assembly elected in 2017 will expire on 14 May 2022.
