Lucknow: Azad Samaj Party chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad, who has formed an alliance of around 40 small political parties to contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election 2022, told Times Now Bharat Digital that the tie-up was formed after taking into caste considerations.

Aazad, who is contesting the UP election 2022 against Chief Minister and firebrand BJP leader Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur Urban constituency, has named the alliance Samajik Parivartan Morcha. Notably, the alliance has decided to field candidates on all the 403 Assembly seats in the UP Assembly polls 2022.

Speaking exclusively to Times Now Bharat Digital, the Bhim Army chief stressed that the alliance of the smaller political parties was formed to fight for the rights of the Dalits, OBCs (other backward classes), tribals and Muslims.

Expressing confidence in the alliance of performing well in the Uttar Pradesh election, Aazad said the Samajik Parivartan Morcha has accommodated leaders from all the backward communities, Muslims, Sikhs, farmers, Kushwaha, Maurya, Prajapati, Nishad, Kashyap, Kataria, Chauhan and Dhansukh. Aazad informed that prominent OBC leaders, including Babu Ram Pal and Raj Kumar Saini have also joined the alliance.

When asked to comment what is the strategy of the alliance to counter the bigger political outfits like BJP and Samajwadi Party, the Bhim Army chief replied saying, they are following Kanshi Ram’s footprints and moving ahead.

On his decision to contest against CM Adityanath, Aazad said in the five years of BJP rule, UP only witnessed ‘jungleraj’. He accused the BJP regime of acting against Dalits. People immensely suffered during the COVID pandemic and these are the reasons that I don’t want Yogi Adiyanath to once again become the chief minister of UP, he further said.

Commenting on Mayawati, the Bhim Army chief said he respects the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo, but people have turned their back towards her as she has limited herself to her party office.

When asked whether he would align with the Samajwadi Party post UP elections, Aazad replied saying that to stop BJP from coming back to power he can support anyone.
