Uttar Pradesh restricts attendance of employees in govt and private offices at 50 per cent amid COVID surge

Lucknow: Amid rise in COVID-19 cases, the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday ordered that the attendance of employees in government and private offices be capped at 50 per cent.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that if any person working at a private establishment is infected with COVID, he or she should be given seven days leave with salary.

The Uttar Pradesh CM also ordered that Covid help desks should be established in all the offices.

“To prevent spread of coronavirus, the CM has directed officials to implement 50 per cent attendance of employees, except for essential services departments, in both government and private offices and work from home should be encouraged,” the spokesman said here.

Amid spurt n coronavirus cases in the poll-bound state, CM Adityanath directed that the online appointment should be given for OPD and patients should be called in hospitals in special cases.

He stressed on encouraging people and administrations to opt for tele-consultation.

The Uttar Pradesh CM emphasised on increasing the speed of vaccination drive against COVID and directed the officials to make efforts to achieve 100 per cent inoculation keeping in mind Assembly elections beginning on February 10.

“In districts, which are going to polls everyone should be vaccinated 10 days in advance and a plan in this regard should be chalked out immediately,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The latest order comes a day after, Uttar Pradesh recorded 7,695 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally to 17,37,550. The death toll increased to 22,928 as four more coronavirus patients succumbed, according to an official statement issued on January 9, 2021.

Meerut, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr and Budaun reported one COVID each.

As per the latest data, there are a total 33,946 active cases of COVID in UP of which 33,563 are in home isolation.
