Uttarakhand govt extends Covid restrictions till January 31 – all you need to know

Dehradun: Amid a rising threat of Covid-19, the Uttarakhand government on Monday extended the ongoing restrictions in the state till January 31. Apart from the daily night curfew, timings have been set for shops and other commercial establishments in the state.

According to a notification issued by the Pushkar Singh Dhami government, all educational Anganwadi centres and schools will remain closed. Students will have to attend online classes.

Shops and other commercial establishments will be allowed to operate from 6 am to 10 pm while daily night curfew will be imposed across the state from 10 pm to 6 am.

Restaurants, hotels, and other eateries will be permitted dine-in service but with only 50 per cent seating capacity. Takeaways and home delivery will continue.

Gymnasiums, shopping malls, cinema halls, spas, salons, theatres, auditoriums, etc can open with 50 per cent of their capacity in adherence to Covid-19 rules.

All swimming pools and water parks in Uttarakhand will remain closed till January 31. However, stadiums, playgrounds and other such establishments can remain open with 50% capacity.

A maximum number of 50 people will be allowed to take part in marriages and funerals.

Since Uttarakhand is a poll-bound state, it should be noted that physical rallies, roadshows and events have been banned by the Election Commission till January 31, in view of the Covid-19 scare.

The hill state has registered 4,00,401 cases of coronavirus so far, including 31,310 active cases, 361,611 recoveries and 7,480 deaths.

Authorities have administered a total of 1,53,79,135 vaccines against Covid-19 to eligible beneficiaries. Of these, more than 80 lakh have received the first dose and 6,843,212 have received the second dose as well.
