Victory for BJP in UP, Manipur; AAP corners Punjab; U’khand & Goa to end in dead heat?

Photo : ANIAs polling ended for the state elections of Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand, let’s look at the forecast of the Times Now exit poll for the five states: Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) set to sweep Punjab? Times Now exit polls predict AAP clenching 70 out of the 117 legislative seats in the Punjab assembly and essentially sweeping the border state. The incumbent Congress party would emerge next in line bagging 22 seats. While Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and allies will bag 19 seats and the BJP-Punjab Lok Congress alliance is predicted to grab five seats in the state. One seat may go to other remaining parties. Punjab saw a multi-cornered high-profile contest in the state. The exit polls have predicted a hung assembly in Goa with the ruling BJP grabbing 14 seats and the Congress emerging as the largest party winning 16 seats. A twenty plus seat count in the 40-seat legislative assembly to form government in the state. AAP is expected to grab 4 seats while the other parties may grab the remaining six seats. The state went to polls in a single phase on February 14.Yogi-Adityanath’s BJP headed for a clear victory but with a reduced majority in Uttar Pradesh. Times Now exit polls predict a clear victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party winning 225 seats out of the 403 seats in the states. Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) is expected to emerge second winning 151 seats, a considerable increase from its last performance of 70 seats. Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) may secure 9 seats while the remaining may be distributed amongst the remaining parties including Congress. The state went to polls in a seven-phase schedule ending on March 7.The results for all states to be simultaneously announced on March 10.
