New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, on Monday, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is dividing the country on the basis of religion, language, and north-south. In response to PM Narendra Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said that the Congress party should be flattered as a large part of PM Narendra Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha was devoted to attacking the Congress.

“I had said a few years ago that the real ‘tukde-tukde’ gang is BJP that has divided Hindus-Muslims on the basis of religion, separated people on language lines, divided North-South India…BJP is doing these divisions,” Tharoor said.

“His entire speech was an attack on the Congress party. It was a very political speech with a large portion devoted to attacking Congress… I suppose we ought to be flattered that he sees us this way,” Tharoor was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Divide and rule policy in Congress’ DNA: PM
