Oscar 2022 nominations announced | Fox News

The 2020 Oscar nominations are in and films like “The Power of the Dog” and “Dune” earned top honors in a year that’s seen a partial return to normalcy following the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc on the film industry. The 94th Academy Awards invited Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan to appear virtually from different locations on Tuesday where they announced all 23 categories voted on by the organization’s members. The duo was joined by special guests such as a collection of 11 medical professionals from Michigan, members of the FDNY, Phylicia Rashad as well as WWE superstar Titus O’Neil who each highlighted a different aspect of this year’s theme, “movie lovers unite.” This year, the academy has yet to map out plans for its show, except that it will include a host for the first time since 2018. For better or worse, the Academy Awards will also be without its usual lead-in. The Golden Globes in January were an untelevised non-event after NBC said it wouldn’t air them in 2022 while the beleaguered Hollywood Foreign Press reformed itself after ethics and diversity criticism.Other changes were more subtle but potentially impactful. For the first time, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences ruled out hard-copy DVD screeners for its members, who instead could watch submissions on the academy’s streaming platform.Below are just some of the nominations for the 2022 Oscars: Performance by an actress in a supporting roleJessie Buckley – The Lost DaughterAriana DeBose – West Side StoryJudi Dench – BelfastKirsten Dunst – The Power of the DogAunjanue Ellis – King RichardBest adapted screenplay The Power of the DogThe Lost DaughterCODADuneDrive My CarBest original screenplayBelfast Don’t Look UpKing RichardLicorice PizzaThe Worst Person In The WorldBest costume designCruellaCyranoDuneNightmare AlleyWest Side StoryBest animated short filmAffairs of the ArtBestiaBoxballetRobin RobinThe Windshield WiperBest live-action short filmAla Kachuu – Take and RunThe DressThe Long GoodbyeOn My MindPlease HoldPerformance by an actor in a supporting roleCiaran Hinds – BelfastTroy Kotsur – CODAJesse Plemons – The Power of the DogJK Simmons – Being the RicardosCodi Smit-Mcphee – The Power of the DogAchievement in film editingDon’t Look UpDuneKing RichardThe Power of the DogTik, Tick…Boom!Makeup and hairstylingComing 2 AmericaCruellaDuneThe Eyes of Tammy FayeHouse of GucciBest animated feature filmEncantoFleeLucaThe Mitchells vs. the MachinesRaya and the Last DragonMusic original songBe Alive – King RichardDos Oruguitas – EncantoDown to Joy – BelfastNo Time to Die – No Time to DieSomehow You Do – Four Good DaysBest documentary short subjectAudibleLead Me HomeThe Queen of BasketballThree Songs for BenazirWhen We Were BulliesBest documentary featureAscensionAtticaFleeSummer of Soul (…Or When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)Writing with FireAchievement in visual effectsDuneFree GuyNo Time To DieShung-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsSpider-Man: No Way HomeAchievement in cinematographyDuneNightmare AlleyThe Power of the DogThe Tragedy of MacbethWest Side StoryAchievement in Production DesignDuneNightmare AlleyPower of the DogThe Tragedy of MacbethWest Side StoryBest International Feature FilmDrive My Car – JapanFlee – DenmarkThe Hand of God – ItalyLuana: A Yak in the Classroom – BhutanThe Worst Person in the World – NorwayPerformance by an actor in a leading roleJavier Bardem – Being the RicardosBenedict Cumberbatch – The Power of the DogAndrew Garfield – Tick, Tick… Boom! Will Smith – King RichardDenzel Washington – The Tragedy of MacbethPerformance by an actress in a leading roleJessica Chastain – the Eyes of Tammy FayeOlivia Colman – the lost daughterPenelope Cruz- parallel mothersNicole Kidman -Being the RicardosKristen Stewart – SpencerAchievement in directingKenneth Braughna – BelfastRayuske Hamaguchi – Drive my CarPaul Thomas NAderson – Licorice PizzaJane Campion – The Power of the DogSteven Spielberg – West Side StoryBest pictureBelfastCODADon’t Look UpDrive My CarDuneKing RichardLicorice PizzaNightmare AlleyThe Power of the DogWest Side Story
