Bhagwant Mann | Credit: ANINew Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said that the AAP government will take the blessings of Guru Sahib to fulfil all the promises made to the people of the state. He also said that AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will be coming to Amritsar for a roadshow today to thank the people of Punjab. Even before taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mann has been praised by people for his decisions like removing the security of former ministers and MLAs. On Saturday he said that police will be deployed for the security of people of the state as this is more important than “security of few people”. Additional Director General of Police (security) has ordered the withdrawal of security cover of 122 former MPs and MLAs in Punjab. AAP government in Punjab will take only police work from the police force, he added. “Police stations are lying vacant. We will take only police work from the police force. I think the security of the people of Punjab is more important than the security of few people,” Mann told ANI. He also directed the state Director General of Police to thoroughly probe the incident of killing of cows near Cholang railway crossing in Hoshiarpur district and book those accused. As per an official statement, Mann, while giving direction to the DGP said that bad elements should refrain from such inhuman acts as law and order would be maintained at all cost. He said that none would be allowed to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state by perpetrating such crimes. He also appealed to the public to exercise restraint in this situation in the larger public interest as the State Police had already been directed to bring the culprits to the book soon. Mann’s swearing-in ceremony will be held on March 16 at the native village of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, Khatkar Kalan and the CM-elect has invited Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal for the oath-taking ceremony.
