At least 22 injured after MLA Prasanta Jagadev plows car into crowd

Bhubaneswar: At least 22 people were injured after a suspended MLA of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) allegedly plowed his car into a crowd at Banapur in Odisha’s Khurda district, according to the police.Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, the MLA from Chilika, was also critically injured as he was roughed up by a mob after the vehicle mowed down a section of the crowd which had gathered outside the BDO Banapur’s office while the election for the block chairperson was underway, PTI quoted police as saying.Seven police personnel were among those who were injured in the incident. Two persons, including Banapur Police Station Inspector-in-Charge R R Sahu, were seriously injured in the incident, and they were taken to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, the officials said.According to Khurda SP Alekh Chandra Pahi, MLA Jagadev was rushed to Tangi Hospital and later taken Bhubaneswar.
