New Delhi: Automotive manufacturer Hyundai has come under sharp criticism over its social media post remembering the “sacrifices of Kashmiri brothers” on February 5, which Pakistan observes as ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’.
Hyundai Pakistan Official (@PakistanHyundai) wrote on Twitter, “Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support as they continue to struggle for freedom.”
A similar post was shared on the official Facebook handle of Hyundai Pakistan.
Reacting to the matter, Hyundai Motor India in a post said that it stands firmly for its “strong ethos” of respecting nationalism.
“Hyundai Motor India has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years now and we stand firmly for our strong ethos of respecting nationalism,” it said.
It further said that the “unsolicited” social media post linking Hyundai Motor India is offending their unparalleled commitment and service to “this great country”.
It also noted that India is the second home to the Hyundai brand and that they have a “zero-tolerance policy” towards insensitive communication. “We strongly condemn any such view.”
“As part of our commitment to India, we will continue our efforts towards the betterment of the country as well as its citizens,” it stated.
