Hyderabad: Amidst the marathon session that continued till late in the evening on Friday, the light banter between Deputy Speaker T Padma Rao and Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy came as a comic relief to the members in the State Assembly. Most of the legislators left the House, while the remaining members from both the treasury and opposition benches were already exhausted, when the Minister started his reply.
It all happened when members especially TRS started thumping the benches as Niranjan Reddy rose to reply on the budget demands on agriculture in the House, in an indication for him to keep his speech short. Taking this as a cue, Niranjan Reddy reminded that he had been waiting for his turn with patience in the House for nearly nine hours and hoped that all the members will sit through his speech with equal patience, trigger a laughter in the House.

Even as the Minister assured that he would not take a lot of time, Deputy Speaker Padma Rao said being a leader who is always amid the masses, he too understood the intentions of the members and he obliges them on most occassions. However, he quickly added that some leaders mistake these claps as an encouragement and speak for hours together. “Kindly do not make such a mistake and test our patience,” leaving the entire House including the Minister in splits.
