Haryana: Two injured, several feared trapped in landslide in Bhiwani

Chandigarh: At least two people were injured and several feared trapped following an incident of a landslide in a mining quarry in Haryana’s Bhiwani on Saturday.

Search and rescue operations are underway at the incident spot. As per latest reports, three people have been rescued so far.

Haryana Police confirmed that the landslide occurred due to cracking of a large part of the mountain in Dadam mining area in Tosham block. 

Meanwhile, Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal has reached the spot of landslide to take stock of the situation.

While speaking to media, he said, “Some people have died. I cannot provide the exact figures as of now. A team of doctors has arrived. We will try to save as many people as possible.”

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said he is in constant touch with authorities and ensuring swift rescue operations at the spot.

“Saddened by the unfortunate landslide accident in Dadam mining zone at Bhiwani. I am in constant touch with the local administration to ensure swift rescue operations and immediate assistance to the injured,” he tweeted.
