Hyderabad: Hyderabad top order came a cropper once again as they were bundled out for a paltry 197 in 55.1 overs on the first day of the Group B Ranji Trophy match against Baroda in Cuttack on Thursday.
Atit Sheth picked up five wickets for 53 for Baroda who ended the day at 92/2 in 27 overs, trailing by 105 runs. Earlier, asked to bat first, Hyderabad, who made several changes, lost half of the side for just 98 runs. Experienced P Akshath Reddy made way for Rohit Rayudu while Alankrit Agarwal, Chandan Sahani and Surya Prasad were handed debut caps. However, their fortunes didn’t change much as Rohit (3), Alankrit (6) departed cheaply. Tanmay’s dismal form with the bat (21) continued while Thakur Tilak Varma offered a bit of resistance with his 46-ball 31 before departing in the 28th over.

Chandan Sahani, Prateek Reddy and Ravi Teja departed for single digits as Hyderabad were staring at a low total at 98/7. Jaweed Ali hit 65 off 0 (12×4) while Tanay Thyagarajan scored 51 pf 61 (4×4, 2×6) to add 64 runs for the eight wicket. After Jaweed’s departure, Tanay reached his fifty and departed as run out.
Later, Ravi Teja dismissed Jyotsnil Singh (13) and Pratyush Kumar (30) in his six-over spell. At stumps, Shivalik Sharma (21 batting) and Abhimanyusingh Rajput (22 batting) are at the crease.
