Indian embassy temporarily relocated to Poland amid attacks in western parts of Ukraine

Photo : APNew Delhi: As the security situation in Ukraine continued to remain grim amid Russian invasion, India has decided to temporarily relocate its embassy in the war-hit country to neighbouring Poland . In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “In view of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, including attacks in the western parts of the country, it has been decided that the Indian Embassy in Ukraine will be temporarily relocated in Poland.” The ministry further said that the situation will be reassessed in light of further developments. The decision comes amid an increasing Russian military offensive against the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and several other prominent cities. On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched what he called a “special military operation” into the country of about 40 million. The Russian Defense Ministry, however, said the special operation is targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure only and the civilian population is not in danger. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it has no plans to occupy Ukraine. Ukraine says more than 1,500 civilians have died in a near two-week siege, which has left the city without water or heat, and running out of food, reported news agency AFP.
