New Delhi: In a big boost to the armed forces, a Man Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile was flight-tested successfully by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Tuesday. The indigenously developed anti-tank missile was launched from a man-portable launcher integrated with thermal site, principal spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, said.

Earlier in the day, a naval variant of the advanced supersonic BrahMos cruise missile was successfully flight-tested from INS Visakhapatnam, a stealth guided-missile destroyer of the Indian Navy.

“Advanced sea to sea variant of BrahMos Supersonic Cruise missile was tested from INS Visakhapatnam today. Missile hit the designated target ship precisely,” the DRDO tweeted.

In December 2021, the DRDO and Indian Air Force (IAF) had successfully flight-tested the indigenously designed and developed Helicopter launched Stand-off Anti-tank (SANT) Missile.

In February 2021, successful joint user trials for Helina (Army Version) and Dhruvastra (Air Force Version) Missile systems were carried out from Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) platform. The missile systems have been designed and developed indigenously by DRDO.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly said that the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat is to make India one of the biggest military powers in the world by developing a modern military industry.
