Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter breaks out between security forces, terrorists at Chowgam in Shopian district

Srinagar, J&K: An encounter broke out between the terrorists and the security forces at the Chowgam area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, the police said on Saturday morning.

“Encounter has started at Chowgam area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice (sic),” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

The gunfight started when a joint team of the police and the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
