Karimnagar achieves 100% vaccination target

Karimnagar: Karimnagar district secured first place in the State by completing 100 per cent vaccination. The second douse of Covid vaccination was completed by Tuesday. While the first douse was given to 104 per cent of people, 100.19 per cent of people took the second douse. Out of 7,92,923 population, the first douse was administered to 8,27,103 and the second douse to 7,94,404 people.
BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar along with other public representatives and government officials celebrated the event by cutting a cake and distributing sweets in the collectorate auditorium here on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the Minister felicitated doctors and other officials who played a vital role in the vaccination process. Kamalakar presented Rs 5 lakh worth gifts to each of five Primary Health Centers. The Minister appreciated doctors, ANMs and ASHA workers for administering the second dose of vaccine to 100 per cent of people. He called upon the district administration to take steps to check the spread of the third weave of coronavirus.

Advising the people not to be scared of Covid, he said people should go ahead by taking precautionary measures. The State government was working with a prime agenda of public health. Karimnagar district, which used to be an unstable area, was going ahead on all fronts. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao started Telangana agitation from the district by organizing Simha Garjana meeting in Karimnagar in 2001 and achieved a separate State.
After taking charge as Chief Minister in 2014, Chandrashekhar Rao launched Karimnagar City Renovation scheme and sanctioned Rs 92 crore immediately. Roads were developed in the town with that funds. Irrigable water is being supplied to more than 1 crore acres of land by completing Kaleshwram project, he informed. Zilla Parishad chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya, MLC Padi Koushik Reddy, Collector RV Karnan and others participated in the programme.
