Ludhiana blast: Intel report suggests terror alert was sounded on December 14, lens on ‘Pakistan-Khalistan link’

Ludhiana: According to an intelligence accessed by Times Now, the Additional Director General (ADG) of Punjab Police’s Internal Security Department had, on December 14 expressed fears of a terror attack and likely role of Pakistan in it much in advance before the Ludhiana court blast. In a report, the copy of which is with Times Now, the ADG of Punjab Police had highlighted that Pakistan-backed elements have been using drones to drop arms, ammunition and explosive material from across the borders.

“As per intelligence inputs, Ferozepur area based smugglers are very active and are in constant touch with the ISI of Pakistan for smuggling consignments of arms, ammunition, explosive material and heroin,”  the report highlighted. The letter was written to all SSPs and CPs across Punjab.

43 drones sighted, 10 hand grenades recovered in five months

The revelation comes at a time when reports citing intelligence reports have pointed that Pakistan-backed and ISI-supported groups could be behind the Ludhiana court complex blast. According to a report in the Times of India, the blast could have been carried out by local elements who were being controlled by their handlers across the borders.

As reported earlier, 43 drone sightings have been reported in Punjab since June 2021. Besides, Punjab Police have, in the past five months, recovered 10 hand grenades and seven tiffin bombs from border towns in Punjab. The Ludhiana blast, which took place in the Ludhiana court complex on Thursday, killed one and injured several others. 

Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary held a high-level internal security meet at MHA to discuss the Ludhiana Court explosion incident. IB Director Arvind Kumar, CRPF &NIA Chief Kuldeep Singh and BSF DG Pankaj Singh attend the meeting along with other officials of NIA and MHA.
