Guwahati: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has stated that the party is set to become the only political alternative as opposed to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam in the coming times.Speaking exclusively to Times Now, AIUDF legislator Aminul Islam has expressed the intentions of the party to replace Congress as the sole opposition party. “Perhaps, it might take some time. AIUDF is the only political party in Assam that is in favour of Assamese nationalism and we support the Assam accord,” added Aminul Islam.The senior AIUDF leader called out the Congress over maintaining ‘double standards’. “The Congress will oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Brahmaputra Valley whereas support the CAA in Barak valley. AIUDF is the only party who is in favour of Assamese,” added Islam.Assam has primarily two major political cum geographical divisions. The Barak Valley is located in the southern region of the Indian state of Assam whereas the Brahmaputra Valley is a region situated between hill ranges of the eastern and northeastern Himalayan range in Eastern India.As per the leader, in the coming times, the AIUDF will take over state politics and become the alternative to the BJP. “AIUDF will be the alternative to BJP and all the communities in Assam and they will accept the party,” added Aminul Islam.The All India United Democratic Front is a political party active in the Indian state of Assam. It is the 3rd largest political party in Assam Legislative Assembly after BJP and Indian National Congress.
