Ghaziabad: A municipal councillor has been booked for posting an objectionable picture of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Mustkeem Chaudhary of Ward 66, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, had allegedly shared a picture of Adityanath on social media in which he was seen wearing a skull cap. The Chief Minister was also portrayed as a bearded man in the photo.
Chaudhary was booked after the residents of Pasonda village in Ghaziabad filed police complaint against him. He has been booked under the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code.
An objectionable caption had been written along with the picture, the complaint stated.
Chaudhary had contested the municipal elections as an independent candidate. However, he joined the Samajwadi Party after winning.
“We are investigating the case and action will be taken as per the law,” Teela Mod police station SHO Mahavir Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.
