Russia starts ‘pulling back’ troops from Ukrainian borders

Russia’s Defence Ministry spokesperson, on Tuesday, said that Moscow has started pulling back troops from the Ukrainian borders. The announcement came as a partial relief to the global community that has been watching with bated breath the military build-up along the European nation which sparked fears of a potential invasion in Ukraine.”Units of the Southern and Western military districts, having completed their tasks, have already begun loading onto rail and road transport and today they will begin moving to their military garrisons,” the spokesperson said. Fodder scam: Lalu Yadav convicted in Doranda treasury case; sentencing on February 18

A special CBI court on Tuesday convicted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in a fodder scam case. The quantum of his sentence will be announced on February 18.

Yadav had earlier been sentenced to 14 years in jail in four other fodder scam cases. The final case was related to withdrawals of Rs 139.35 crore from Doranda treasury during his tenure as the chief minister of undivided Bihar. Of the 170 accused in the Doranda Treasury case, 55 have died, seven have become government witnesses, two have accepted the charges against them and six are absconding.

News of the RJD supremo’s conviction was hailed by critics, with BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi contending that justice has finally been served to those who “pushed the state into darkness” for 15 years. Read More

Indian Railways to soon enter door-to-door delivery segment. Check details

In an attempt to tap the non-conventional freight traffic, Railways is piloting test runs of a door-to-door delivery service.

Taking cue from the courier companies or e-commerce players, the state-owned transport company is looking to bring the plan to fruition through an app along with giving its customers receipts with a QR code. This would let them track their orders.
