“Omicron a silent killer, I have been suffering for 25 days”

Delhi: Responding to a request that full physical hearings be resumed in the Supreme Court as the COVID-19 situation is in control, Chief Justice Of India NV Ramana on Wednesday said he was still suffering from the after-effects of the same.”Omicron is a silent killer,” he said.His remarks came after President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Senior Advocate Vikas Singh requested the top court today to revert to full physical hearing. “It is Omicron, it is much milder,” Mr Singh said.”I suffered in first wave but recovered in 4 days. Now in this wave, it has been 25 days and I am still suffering,” CJI Ramana said.”There is a jump of 15,000 cases now,” he said responding to Mr Singh’s request.”Your Lordship has been unlucky in that regard. But people are recovering,” replied Mr Singh.CJI Ramana concluded that the top court will take a call after evaluating the situation. “We will see,” he said.In January, the top Court battled a severe wave of Covid where 10 judges had tested positive and positivity rate among staff had gone up to 30 per cent.
