Telangana committed to development of women: Gangula

Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Gangula Kamalakar said that the state government was implementing a number of schemes for the welfare of women. Terming women as a strong force, the Minister said that women were excelling in all fields. He was speaking at a programme organised as part of International Women’s Day celebrations here on Tuesday.
The Minister said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has great respect for women, was striving hard for women’s empowerment. Besides introducing various schemes, steps have been taken to implement them successfully. For the first time in the country, Kalyanalaxmi and Shadhi Mubharak schemes have been implemented in the state to extend financial support for the marriage of the poor women. Besides KCR kit, Rs 12,000 was being given to lactating women.

Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao said that Chief Minister has increased the salaries of anganwadi workers and ASHA workers besides introducing Dalit Bandhu for the upliftment of dalit community people. Later, women public representatives, corporators, sanitation staff, women officials were felicitated on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Collector RV Karnan, Additional Collector Garima Agarwal, Deputy Mayor Challa Swaroopa Rani and MCK commissioner Seva Islavath and others participated in the programme.
