Hyderabad: On the eve of International Women’s Day, Government of Telangana felicitated women journalists from across mediums. IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao spoke highly about the exemplary work that women journalists from Telangana have done so far.
Speaking about the role women have played in his life and elaborating on his personal life experiences, Rama Rao said, “We Indian men realise the importance of a women in our life only when we leave our homes and start living alone. That’s how I learnt the kind of work my mother used to do when I left home and started staying on my own.

Women are multi-taskers and work long hours in office and go back home and take care of the family. If we really want society to grow then this reality has to change.”
The event was organised by Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department and around 80-plus women journalists from print, digital and TV media were awarded for their service to journalism.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod and Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy were also present. Programmes like Arogya Lakshmi, KCR Kits, Shaadi Mubarak, Aasara pensions have been enabling women in Telangana to grow in their life. Women journalists from Telangana Today Shruti Sarma, Shanti Nanisetti and Sruti Venugopal were also felicitated on the occasion.
